Around 1700 yachts and 16,000 sailors compete in Island Sailing Club's Round the Island Yacht Race, one of the world's biggest yachting competitions. The billowing sails travel a 50-nautical mile circuit anticlockwise around the Isle of Wight, starting at Cowes.
