Considered the father of the Glasgow Boys, works by the influential Scottish artist James Paterson are displayed at Glasgow's Hunterian Art Gallery. Drawn from the former contents of the James Paterson Museum, this is an insightful look at Paterson's work.
As a landscape painter, and through a latter career as a portraitist, Paterson had a significant influence on a group of young artists known as the Glasgow Boys, resident in the city at the end of the 19th century.
This exhibition offers the visitor a rare opportunity to see many works by this influential artist, including early sketch books from paintings holidays to the Trossachs and landscape watercolours.
